Primary Purpose: Assist teacher in preparation, management of classroom activities and administrative requirements for Title III, Part A students in the areas of reading, writing, and math. Work under the supervision of a certified teacher.
Qualifications: Education/Certifications High School diploma or GED equivalent
Paraprofessional Certification or willingness to obtain
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with children
Experience: Educational Instruction or training preferred Bilingual preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties Instructional Support 1. Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays using research-based programs/strategies in the math, reading, and writing. 2. Assist with administrative and scoring of objectives testing instruments or work assignments. 3. Assist teacher in providing research-based individualized and/or small group instruction and in providing guidance for computer-aided instruction. 4. Help maintain neat and orderly classroom. 5. Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment 6. Provide orientation and assistance to substitute 7. Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports Student Management 8. Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or small groups. 9. Help supervise students throughout school day, inside the classroom. 10. Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students. Other Duties 11. Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance. 12. Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned. 13. Participate; assist in the planning and implementation of parent outreach. 14. Maintain time and Effort as approved in the consolidated application.
